We change our tune on a daily basis around here...so for tomorrow I am pointing you to blueberries and strawberries.
The raspberries have been well picked the last few days and there won't be much available tomorrow. I won't keep you from the canes but I'll talk up the other berries tomorrow.
The strawberries are coming back quickly and there are four rows for the picking. Still not August/September conditions but very pick-able with the sweetest strawberries. The sun will do that.
And the blueberries keep getting better. I could gush and post amazing pictures of blueberries but I'll leave it at that. (Because I haven't taken those amazing pictures yet! Last year's photos will not do this year's berries justice).
We are open Thursday, July 17th from 8:30am to 2:00pm.
PS We are now 'sort of' on Facebook. I managed to create more than one FB page as I am dense computer-wise and still figuring out social network . But do attempt to look for our Windhover Farm FB page which will have daily updates, all going well. And then of course "like" us and spread the word!!
DOWN, UNDER, UP. Three words to pick by. Often you will find the best berries when you bend down and look up and under the raspberry canes.
Quote of the day:
as said by everyone. (Okay maybe not everyone but enough people to keep the smiles going.)
The picking continues to be very good in the raspberries and blueberries. We are open Wednesday, July 17th from 8:30am to 2:00pm. Those hours will continue through Saturday.
Strawberries are still in slow season but there will be picking tomorrow.
The weather is IDEAL. We look forward to seeing you in the field!
The raspberries remain in the EXCELLENT picking stage. There are L.O.T.S. of berries. I kid you not. You will not be disappointed!
And the blueberries are very ready to be picked. They are big and sweet and awaiting the first picking of the season. $2.00/lb.
The strawberries...not so much. Well picked out today so there will not be much tomorrow. Still in low season until August.
We are open 8:30am to 2:00pm all week. Call for an appointment if those hours do not work for you.
The raspberries have made that turn. It is "officially" excellent picking. We will be closed Sunday and open Monday, July 15th from 8:30am to 2pm for raspberry and strawberry U-pick. The raspberries are more plentiful than strawberries at this time of year so raspberries are a better plan.
The verdict is not yet out on blueberries for Monday. That decision will be made Sunday evening but it's looking hopeful.
Hope to see you next week for more fantastic picking in the field. We will be open Monday to Saturday at 8:30am until 2pm.
Roasting chickens also available.
PS There are three equally fantastic U-pick berry farms along Dove Creek Rd. We are the second berry farm both directions if you are particularly looking for us (!) The rose between two thorns if you will. Kidding of course as it's berry heaven (and thornless) any which farm you land at.
because this is the end to the fits and starts openings. We should be able to maintain a regular Monday through Saturday schedule from here on out. The raspberries are ripening redder by the minute (oh yes!) and it's looking really good out there.
We will be open Saturday, July 13th from 8:30am to 1:00pm for raspberry and strawberry U-pick. We will be closed Sunday (because we are always closed Sunday). Open Monday at 8:30am.
There is a good chance that the blueberries will be ready to pick on Monday. Maybe?
See you in the field!
from 8:30am to 2pm for raspberry and strawberry u-pick. Should be a great day out there. $2.75/lb and byoc---C as in container. I think that's all you need to know!
**We are no longer taking orders for pre-picked raspberries. Our list is full-up for this season.
***We plan to open Saturday too. Stayed tuned.
This farming gig is all about tough decisions...and weeding of course. It looks like the raspberries could use another day for ripening. In order to assure "optimum" picking we will be closed Thursday, July 11 and as sure as there is a tomorrow, we will open Friday, July 12th at 8:30am. There is much to look forward to in the rasberry season and we appreciate your patience.
There will also be strawberry picking on Friday in the "coming back into production sort of way". The amazing strawberry season is still a few weeks off though.
We look forward to seeing you Friday and in the many weeks ahead in the season for raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.
PS Ask us about roasting chickens!
July 10th will be a day of
reckoning ripening. Y'all are excellent pickers and picked the canes near clean so we think a day to ripen would be best. The plan is to be closed Wednesday, July 10th and re-open Thursday. Make sure you check back here to be sure of a Thursday opening and hours. There are weeks left for raspberry picking. We are still in early season. The canes usually produce into the beginning of August. Time and so far, excellent weather are on our side!
It was a fine a day picking the raspberries. It is wonderful to see loads of big red raspberries coming out of the field. Although they are not at there production peak this early in the month, there are lots of berries for the picking. We will open Tuesday, July 9th from 8:30am to 2:00pm for raspberry u-pick. $2.75/lb
The other berries, straw and blue, are not far behind.
See you tomorrow!
Hello berry pickers of the Comox Valley, it's raspberry time!
We will be open Monday, July 8th from 8:30am to 2:00pm for raspberry U-pick. Raspberries are $2.75/lb.
No strawberries this week. They are coming though. And the blueberries are not far behind. It's looking good out in the field.
