Productive picking

Pick me!

Pie. Pick 'em for the pie.

Still excellent picking for blueberries although time is running out. Come in the next week.

Wow strawberries. What a difference a couple of weeks make. There are loads. But plenty of time to pick these.

We open at 9am and stay open most of the day.

Hope to see you out here.

It's been a week since we've posted due to the fact we're overwhelmed with berries and we're out picking ALL the time. Our favourite customer, "This is the best blueberry picking I've done in 60 years", was back yesterday and says his quote holds true a week later. Both blueberry and strawberry picking are excellent. Come and pick during these last gorgeous days of August. You won't be disappointed.

The blueberries will be around for another 10 days or so (a guess) and the strawberries will produce well into September if not October.

Please phone ahead for pre-orders.

We also have chicken and eggs available.

We will be open here and there this weekend, August 27 &28. Phone ahead to make sure we are here. We will open at 9am Monday morning.

It's the Fall Fair at the Exhibition Grounds this weekend. Head on down and enjoy agriculture exhibits and so much more.

I think it's safe to say that raspberry season is over. It was a good one. Many of you are now counting up the jars of raspberry jam adorning your pantry. Good work!

On to strawberries, that range in size and shape of that of an egg (weird I know), to the size of a pea and everything inbetween. Thankfully, they don't taste like an egg but are sweet as can be and abundant. For those who prefer strawberry jam, this is your time. We prefer our strawberries straight up, right from the field, warmed by the sun.

Blueberries continue to be endless. Don't make us fill all our freezers with blueberries! Come and pick and take advantage of the bounty. Quote right from the mouth of our now favourite customer, "This is the best blueberry picking I've done in 60 years".

Sometimes, when you're an amateur, it gets boring photographing berries and kids so I turned my lens elsewhere to the colours of August.

Those darn crickets keep reminding me that summer is coming to an end. Time to soak up the season with the sights, sound and flavour of the harvest. (Meanwhile trying not to forget that the weeds are making a strong, last stand. Sigh.)

Open at 9am Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Open Monday at 9am.

Hope to see you soon.

It is the height of berry season!

Beautiful mornings in the field. Lots of blueberries. A bounty of strawberries finally. Raspberries still out there for great picking. This will be the last week.

We are open at 9am and stay open in the afternoons.

Blueberries available for we-pick pre-order.

Loving blue...

And these two in blue...

A happy way to start the day

is eating berry shortcake for breakfast

It's that wonderful time of year when the trio of berries are all available for picking.
The raspberry days are numbered. Don't delay.
I can pick 5 lbs. of blueberries in 15 minutes. You can too!
Strawberries gettinng more plentiful each day but the best is yet to come.

We're open right after we've gobbled up the shortcake at 9am.

I am guessing, emphasis on the guessing, that there will be one more week of raspberry picking. August 16th or so may be the last day of picking. There are lots of just ripe raspberries out there and some still to ripen. Picking continues to be great.

There is a sea of blue in the blueberry field. Picking is quick and easy.

We are now taking pre-orders again for blueberries only. Please call 338-7750 to place an order.

Strawberries...sigh. There are some and they are big all right but they still haven't fully reached their "potential".

Truly, it's not too hot in the field to pick. And when it does get hot, we do this:

They say that when it is hot you can see the corn growing.

In the same way, when it is hot, you can see blueberries turning blue. The sun has done wonders and these gems are brilliant blue. Picking has made the turn from good to excellent.

Here's a picking tip: Few people make it to the end of the rows. In particular, the end of rows 3, 4 and 5 are heavy laden. (The rows are numbered on the posts)

Come and watch the purple berries pictured below turn from purple to blue.

Lots of raspberries out there too.

We are open Friday, August 5th at 9am and will be closed for the weekend. Back open Monday morning for more excellent picking.

All is well in the berry fields. Buckets and buckets of berries being picked on these beautiful summer days. Raspberries are at their peak, blueberries bushes are getting bluer every day and strawberries... still not quite there. There are strawberries to be picked each day but we are guessing at least another week before they are in full production.

We are now fully booked for pre-orders at this time. We are not taking any new orders. Please check back in 10 days or so as there may be an update on this. If you are able and have the time, there are plenty of berries available for u-pick. It's actually kind of fun and invigorating out in the fields--at least that's what we tell our kids(!)

Open weekdays 9-1.

Picking is excellent for raspberries and blueberries. Today is looking like a great picking day as it is overcast--again.

Strawberries are still limited. There are lots of blossoms so there is hope!

We are open 9 to 1 weekdays or by appointment.

Have a great week. Check out our contact page for directions to the farm.
